In the UK for a few days, currently in Arnside, Cumbria which is just 4 miles from the RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss ( where there's been a Long-tailed Duck since October!). Some sightings whilst I've been here:
Sunday 9 March:
Leighton Moss; Marsh Harrier, Common Raven, several Goldeneye, Teal, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck and Marsh Tit. No sign of the Long-tailed Duck!
River Kent, Arnside; 2 Goosander, 4 Common Shelduck, 60+ Redshank, 40+ Curlew, Oystercatcher, 2 Great black-backed Gull, Lesser black-backed Gull, 1 Common Gull, Herring Gull, Black-headed Gull, Great Cormorant.
Monday 10 March:
Arnside; 1m 2f Goldeneye, 2m 1f Goosander, Little Egret, 20+ Redshank, 10+ Curlew, Mute Swan, Siskin, Goldcrest, Bullfinch. Gulls as above, except Common Gull.
Tuesday 11 March:
Leighton Moss; 4 Goldeneye, 1f Long-tailed Duck, 4 Avocet, Redshank, Spotted Redshank.
Arnside; Goldeneye, Goosander as above, 3 Common Raven, Bullfinch.
