The Common Nightingale in the garden is still there and calling, often for long periods, throughout the day; here's a video/recording of its calls....it has been behaving like this for several weeks; there are cats in the area but to be alarm calling continually for so long seems a bit strange.
The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul

At 1000hrs we set off around La Umbria on this year's 'semana cultural' bidwatching walk; despite the inclusion of two very enthusiastic kids and a dog amongst our number we still saw, or heard, all of our target species except Short-toed Eagle!
