The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul
Thursday 29 May 2014, Gaucin, sunny, light W-NW wind, 26C
After a chilly damp day yesterday, 4mm of rain fell mostly in the early hours of Wednesday, today it was back to a warm summery feel. A Common Nightingale has taken to calling persistently, and singing occasionally, from the Walnut tree in the garden; in the same tree at 1630hrs was a striking adult male Hawfinch, unusual in the garden at this time of year. At 1930hrs 4 Honey Buzzard drifted over the west of the village in front of El Hacho.
