Eurasian Nuthatch prospecting in an oak tree |
The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul
Monday 20 January 2014, Gaucin, mostly sunny, light N-NW wind, 13C
After a relatively wet weekend, with over 50L/m2 rain falling over Sat/Sun, today was dry and, after a 2C start, quite warm. Early yesterday morning it was very wet and there were Force 7 N winds, gusting to Force 8 but it cleared up in the afternoon when I managed to see another Hawfinch in the tall trees 50m from the Camino de Gibraltar; there was also a Grey Wagtail on the pavement along Calle Convento (it had been a stream earlier in the day!).
