Across the Genal valley to Jubrique and Genalguacil with the Sierra de las Nieves to the left |
The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul
Monday 06 January 2014, Gaucin, sunny, calm air-light W wind, 20C
There was unusually good weather for the 'Three Kings' parade yesterday and it continued today with sunny skies and spring-like temperatures. The good Griffon Vulture numbers continued over Sierra Crestellina, with 60+ there yesterday mid-afternoon; also 5 Common Raven over Gaucin. This morning whilst on a walk from Algatocin to Benalauria there were Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Crested Tit, Firecrest, Eurasian Nuthatch and Black Redstart in the oak woods and 30+ Griffon Vulture plus a great sighting of 2 adult Bonelli's Eagle over Benalauria village.
