The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul
Sunday 02 December, Gaucin, sunny, light N wind, 11C (but feeling colder in the shade or in the wind!): Dog-walking has its advantages...hard on the heels of yesterday's Siskin I saw my first Brambling of the winter this morning on the concrete section of the Camino de Gibraltar just 50m from the nearest houses; also a possible Redwing but it disappeared into the middle of a large olive tree before I could get my bins on it. This afternoon whilst having a coffee and gazing out of our patio window I saw 11 species in 20min in the Walnut tree in the garden, including three good 'garden ticks': Common Starling, Spotless Starling, Blue Rock Thrush, Blackbird, Blue Tit, Crested Tit, Blackcap, Chiffchaff sp., House Sparrow, Chaffinch and Siskin.
