The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul
Wednesday 31 October, Gaucin, mostly cloudy, light W wind, 13C: After two more rainy days, thankfully not as torrential as the previous downpour, today was at least dry. A short early morning walk along Camino de Avedin produced Great-spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Nuthatch, Short-toed Treecreeper, Black Redstart, Chiffchaff sp., and Firecrest. At about 1330hrs there were no fewer than 5 Black Redstart (1 male, 4 female) in the 'paddock' at the top of the track along with small flocks of both Chaffinch and Goldfinch.
