The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul
Tuesday 27 March, Gaucin, sunny, fresh-strong E wind: With continuing easterly winds there's been little to see in terms of migration lately. Swift numbers are building steadily and there are more Iberian Chiffchaff singing. Short-toed Eagles make regular appearances over the village and there were two Red-billed Chough and a pair of Raven over Calle Convento in the last couple of days. There was some light rain on Saturday but still no significant rainfall. As I write this, just to prove me wrong, a male Hen Harrier passes over the village struggling in the strong wind!
