The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul
Friday 11 November, 1000-1130hrs, mixed woods at Salto de Cura, near Gaucin, light SE wind, sunny, warm: Spent some time cutting firewood (chestnut) and whilst out saw a couple of Red-billed Chough, Raven, Griffon Vulture, Eurasian Jay, European Nuthatch and small mixed flocks of Blue Tit, Great Tit, Chaffinch, Serin and Goldfinch. At about 1400hrs a Common Buzzard and a flock of 40+ Griffon Vulture flew North-South over the Mirador de la Sierra venta on the Ronda road just outside Gaucin.
