The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul
Tuesday 04 October, west slope of El Hacho, Gaucin, 1900-2000hrs, light SE wind, clear skies, warm: A quick visit to see if I could spot the suspected Ortolan Bunting but there was no sign of it! There was a rather nice sunset, though (see photos). There were still at least 2 female and 1 male Common Redstart, lots of Blackcap, Sardinian Warbler, Cirl Bunting, Stonechat (see male in photo), Griffon Vulture, Common Kestrel and House Martin. Red-legged Partridge were heard calling.
