The aim of this blog is to record bird sightings in and around Gaucin. We have a fantastic variety of birds that live in and visit the area and it would be great to have somewhere where we can publish observations for others to see. If you'd like to contribute on a regular basis please ask and I can add you as an author or send me your sightings or other observations by email pmconvento@gmail.com (the usual stuff...date, bird, location, etc.) and I'll add them to the blog. Happy birding! Paul
Tuesday 29 March, Camino de Gibraltar, Gaucin, 1600-1730hrs, mostly cloudy, light westerly wind: A single Black Kite constituted the visible migration, strange given the wind direction of the past couple of days. Summer visitors continue to arrive with 2x singing Nightingale and 2x Woodchat Shrike, see photo.
Also there were 2 pairs of Cirl Bunting, 2 singing Cetti's Warbler, Serin, Blackcap, Grey Wagtail, Common Kestrel, Griffon Vulture, Sparrowhawk, Sardinian Warbler, Barn Swallow and a pair of Red-billed Chough up by the old convent ruins and Stonechat (including one fully fledged youngster, see photo),
